Natasha left the apartment to get some fresh air. She was suddenly out of breath when she saw the text messages between her husband and his close friend.
“This can’t be happening,” she repeated, inhaling the moist autumn air.
She had never allowed herself to snoop on her husband’s phone, but today, while he was resting after a night shift, Natasha decided to check one recipe on his phone since her own had run out of battery and turned off.
And then she stumbled upon unread messages in Viber.
The words “darling, my beloved” from her close friend embarrassed and shocked her so much that she decided to go outside and process everything that was happening.
The golden hues of autumn lifted her spirits. Natasha wandered along the pathway, stepping on yellow-red leaves, and even for a moment, she got distracted, admiring the carpet woven by nature before her. She wanted to stroll through the evening city and figure out how to proceed.
What she dreaded most was confronting him, to avoid feeling humiliated and hurt.
“But what should I do?” she thought repeatedly.
“I’ll go to my grandmother’s village. I want to dissolve, vanish, forget it all, like a dream,” the idea came to Natasha.
“I’ll gather all the necessary things right away. And then I’ll vanish,” she thought.
Natasha abruptly turned around and hurried toward the house. She walked quickly, her heart beating faster and faster.
“Just as long as he doesn’t wake up, and I manage to leave unnoticed,” she thought as she approached her high-rise.
Like a bullet, Natasha ascended to the third floor. A sleepy realm reigned in the apartment. Her husband was still asleep after his night shift. Natasha quickly gathered all the necessary things, took the phone—which had charged quite well by now—and literally ran out of the apartment. In the entrance hall, she decided to write a note to her husband, so he wouldn’t look for her, and after scribbling a few lines, she returned, leaving it on the console in the corridor.
In the note, Natasha asked him not to look for her, but instead to check his Viber messages.
“Thank God we don’t have children yet,” she thought as she left the entrance.
Natasha headed to the bus stop, which wasn’t far from her home.
The bus didn’t keep her waiting. It arrived literally within a minute.
“Well, that’s just great,” Natasha said as she settled by the window.
She felt like crying from the hurt and pain caused by the people she considered dear.
A bump to her left leg quickly brought her back to reality. She flinched slightly when she saw a drunken young man nearby.
“Pardon me, madam, I didn’t mean to disturb you,” the stranger said with a slightly slurred voice.
Natasha wanted to stand, but the young man blocked her path with his hand.
“Please forgive me. I’m at fault. I don’t want you to be afraid of me. Are you headed to the station?” he asked, looking into Natasha’s sad, hazel eyes.
“What? Why do you care?” she asked.
“Simply because I’m headed to the station too. I noticed you have a large bag. That’s why I asked.”
For some reason, Natasha wasn’t afraid of this young man. She was somewhat perceptive about people. He was well-dressed, his face exuded trust, only his speech was a bit slurred.
“Things happen,” she thought, and continued to gaze out the window.
“So, you’re leaving?” the stranger persistently asked.
“Such a beautiful girl all alone? Going out somewhere late at night?” he didn’t cease.
“Yes, I’m leaving,” Natasha snapped, unable to hold back any longer.
“Don’t mind me, I’m a little tipsy. Otherwise, I would never have started talking to you.”
“You’re so chatty,” Natasha said.
At that moment, their eyes met. As the song goes, “those eyes are like tea-colored…” Natasha was amazed at how unusual and beautiful the young man’s eyes were.
“I’m going from a birthday party. I visited a friend, and now I’m heading to the station and home. So I feel obliged to see off such a beautiful girl.”
Natasha was surprised by the stranger’s forwardness. Yet she realized that during this difficult time, he was, in a way, distracting her from her unpleasant thoughts.
“We’ll be arriving soon! Don’t be afraid. I’m just here to see you off. And don’t worry, I’m not going to steal your bag. Why are you so attached to it?”
“And I’m not afraid. Fine, deal. If our paths cross, I don’t mind,” she replied.
Natasha was an extremely attractive young woman. Her chestnut hair beautifully accentuated the color of her hazel eyes. Her lips were slightly plump, and her nose was of an attractive, well-proportioned shape. Andrey liked her at first sight. He was quite a modest guy. He always had difficulties approaching girls. But this time, he felt a certain ease and decided not to miss the chance to talk to the beauty.
………..
Meanwhile, Natasha’s husband was somewhat shocked by what was happening. When he woke up and analyzed the situation, he immediately called Lisa, Natasha’s very close friend. “Lisa, if you can, come over urgently. That’s it. I’m a scoundrel.”
“What do you mean by ‘that’s it’?” Lisa asked.
“You’re scaring me.”
“That’s it,” Nikita repeated.
“She found out about us and left me.”
After the phone conversation, Nikita and Lisa met. They discussed the events until morning and decided to comfort each other in each other’s arms.
“Well, since it’s happened, let’s live together,” Nikita proposed. Lisa was delighted by this turn of events. But alas, love never blossomed in their relationship. Nikita constantly thought of Natasha. And after a month of living with Lisa, they eventually broke up.
………….
“Forgive me,” he called to Natasha.
“I love you! Will you come back?” Nikita pleaded.
“But I realized that it wasn’t love. It was, as I see it, true love. I have found it.”
Andrey, with whom she had met on the bus, gently held Natasha’s hand. She had never met such an open and kind person in her life. Their relationship developed rapidly.
“Don’t call me anymore. I won’t answer the phone. I am loved and I love,” Natasha said, pressing the red button on her phone.
Throughout all this time, Andrey was by her side. He heard how Natasha had rebuffed her ex. Andrey gently embraced her shoulders and said,
“I’m not going to let you go anywhere!”
…………..
Two months later, Natasha and Andrey got married. Fate had it that this meeting happened just in this way. Maybe not perfectly, but nonetheless, Natasha became happy!
